June 4th, 1924

Mr. George W. Turner,
Secretary of the Calhoun Yacht Club,
Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Dear Sir:

The Halie Reiter Challenge Cup that I am presenting to the Calhoun Yacht Club is donated under the following conditions.
DEED OF GIFT

That it be used exclusively as a trophy for Class C boats and awarded yearly to the winner of the Class C. championship.

That a series of at least five races be sailed each season before a championship award is made.

All races to be sailed under the sailing rules of the I. L. Y. A. and the club rules of the Calhoun Yacht Club.

That the Calhoun Yacht Club will have the name of the boat, skipper and year engraved in a uniform manner on the cup before presenting said cup to the winner of the championship series each year.

The cup is to remain in possession of the winner of the championship series until June 1st. of the following year at which time it is to be turned back to the Secretary of the Calhoun Yacht Club. The Secretary of the Calhoun Yacht Club may demand from the winner a bond or other satisfactory security to insure the return of the cup to the club at the proper time.

In the event of the disbandment of the Calhoun Yacht Club or failure to schedule and sail at least five championship races during any one season, this Challenge Cup is to revert back to the donor, to be held in trust by him until such time as regular championship races will again be sailed. The idea being to keep this cup as a permanent race trophy to be used exclusively for yacht racing on Lake Calhoun. And in the event of the present Calhoun Yacht Club disbanding and a new Calhoun Yacht Club organized in subsequent year it would then be available to have the racing trophy for the new club.

It shall be the duty of the Secretary of the Calhoun Yacht Club to furnish each year to the winner of this Challenge Cup a copy of this deed of gift that no misunderstandings may arise.

This Challenge Cup is to be presented to the winner of the C Class championship within ten days after date on which last championship race is sailed each season.

The object of the donor in presenting this cup to the Calhoun Yacht Club is to further the interests of yachting on Lake Calhoun.

Yours truly,

W. W. Reiter</transc>
